Eirene, goddess of Peace, daughter of Themis and Zeus. Eirene was one of three Horai, goddesses of the seasons and the keepers of the gates of heaven. In classical art, she usually appears in the company of her two sisters bearing the fruits of the seasons or as a maiden holding the infant Ploutos (Wealth) in her arms. She has come to represent a beautiful young woman, a visionary of peace and plenty.
